For many of us, anger is a sticky emotion, unsafe to feel, or covered up by a whole lot of other ideas about what’s “good” and “bad” to experience. For others, it’s the only acceptable way to express a range of emotion, and everything gets channeled into a certain way of expression anger or aggression. I used to have a really good trick to avoid feeling anger, which I glossed over because I didn’t know it was safe for me to be pissed off at someone or something — I would turn it into self-blame and shame, and make myself wrong in every way possible. But once I learned to recognize, acknowledge, and fully allow anger to move through me, so much opened up in my life — more connection, ease in communication, strength, innate safety, support, and intimacy. Infinitely more flow!
In East Asian medical theory, spring is the time that the emotion of anger comes up to the surface. There is a ton of potential for harnessing this natural tendency to understand, feel, and be with anger this time of year. Join this breathwork group as we ride the wave of fresh energy and movement of early spring, and allow our full range of emotions to be here.
Breathwork is an active meditation using a specific 2-part breathing pattern to connect to your body and vitality, open up space for stagnant old energy and emotions to flow freely, and expand your heart. Most (more like, all) of us are carrying around pain, fear, trauma, and outdated beliefs about ourselves and the world around us, which all live tucked away in our cells. Breathwork is a simple tool that supports us in finally shedding those heavy weights.
