I last walked by and visited the tree pictured here 3 days ago, when it was at a completely different phase of being; the other ones like it had bloomed a week before, but this one was on its own program. So much has shifted in just 3 days, as you can see in the beautiful flowers that are now fully expressed. But, this didn't happen overnight, though it might look that way; months of internal churning, nurturing, restructuring, readying, slowly arranged the groundwork for the magical outer change in form that happened while I blinked.
I’m wondering : what groundwork have you been putting down within, whether consciously or unconsciously, over the winter? What old patterns have been slowly burning down, rearranging to provide you the path for a new perspective, a new way of being in your health and in your life?
I always get excited for and receptive to the rapid changes that come with moving into a new season. In fact, this is one of the reasons why I left San Francisco, where I lived for nearly 10 years of same same : minor subtle shifts in weather that didn't dredge my habits, didn't shake me, didn't force me to adjust. My experience there was that everything just kind of cruised along, business per usual, no break, no shifts other than a few degrees warmer here, a little more rain there; in a lot of ways, I was on cruise control, for a long time, because my body and spirit craved environmental nudges that were simply not present there. I discovered that I need the external power of the seasons to help me see where I've become mindless, habitual, lazy. To help me move things in my life around, to align to the energy and needs of the present moment, rather than continuing in the vein of the previous few months. This lesson has proved invaluable, and now, living in dramatic seasons once again, I am forced into awareness of the present moment, of the invitation to adjust and adapt and upgrade my ways of being, every few months.
You may have noticed that energy has been moving rapidly over the past 2 weeks. The trees and flowers are blooming. We are all outside, having picnics and long walks around the park, saying hello to strangers again, stretching and moving our bodies, seeing how things feel this side of winter.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath into your belly. Feel it rise and fall. What are you noticing? Tightness where there used to be ease? Freedom where there used to be constriction? What does your body need, right now? What does your spirit need?
So, how does your body feel? I'll bet the information you receive is quite different from 2 weeks ago, and different from even this morning, if you had asked then. Because we are constantly in motion, constantly adapting, constantly changing, constantly finding new ways around obstacles, constantly allowing ourselves to be moved by the ever-flowing river. (Because we are the river.)
Feel into your own experience : what have you been hunkered down with, enduring, white-knuckling through day in and day out over the last few months? Is it physical pain, or headaches, or emotional pain? What about fatigue, or insomnia? Feelings of stuckness and impasse in your relationships, in your work, in your whole life, in your spirit?
What kind of opening and evolution might be possible if you look fully at what isn’t working, and don’t look away anymore? Can you allow yourself to let go? Where can you open to receive support for your vibrancy, your best possible health, your attunement with what you truly want in your life?
Spring is the perfect time to make space in your mind, in your schedule, in your life, for your own healing and evolution. If I can connect you to resources that will help you feel better and move forward, is that something you'd be interested in hearing more about? I'm here to connect you to the support you're seeking, no matter where you are and what you need. You know where to find me.
